Campari Korea announced on the 6th that the first work of the 'Splendor Collection,' composed of rare spirits of the Scotch single malt whisky The Glen Grant, 'The Glen Grant 65 Years,' will be released worldwide in a limited edition of 151 bottles.
The Glen Grant 65 Years was created in the form of a wood object through the collaboration of John Galvin and Glass Storm. In particular, to commemorate this, The Glen Grant plans to unveil an innovative painting performance called 'Seasons' in collaboration with the world-renowned art group 'Random International' at Art Basel Hong Kong.
The first work of the Splendor Collection, which showcases only the rarest spirits from the Glen Grant distillery, is a 65-year-old whisky distilled in Scotland in 1958 and aged for over 65 years in French oak casks before bottling. It is distilled in the traditional way by heating a slender pot still with coal and matured perfectly for decades in a single French oak cask.
The Glen Grant 65 Years aged whisky, produced in only 151 bottles worldwide, is presented in a handmade decanter designed by John Galvin and Glass Storm, who are famous for creating luxury objets d'art. The shape of the decanter is designed in the form of a continuously flowing ring, the 'Mobius strip,' symbolizing the eternity of nature. This decanter, intricately engraved with Himalayan blue poppies, is made from wood native to Victoria Garden and a bottle hand-blown by artisans, dramatically showcasing the elegance of nature and the excellence of The Glen Grant.
The mahogany-colored Glen Grant 65 Years aged whisky features top notes of rich syrupy aromas intertwined with ripe blackberry and delicate sandalwood scents. On the palate, sweet orange, ripe black cherry, rich fruitcake, and sticky jujube flavors harmonize in layers, adding complex depth. The finish leaves a subtle citrus aroma, a light touch of spices, oak, and a gentle smoky scent.
Greg Stables, The Glen Grant Master Distiller, said, "The 65-year-old whisky is a great single malt that embodies The Glen Grant's unwavering whisky-making methods and vision for innovation."
