Jang Je-won Announces Intention to Leave People Power Party on the 5th

Rapper Noel (Jang Yong-jun) posted a cryptic message on his social media following reports of sexual assault allegations against his father, former People Power Party lawmaker Jang Je-won. On the 4th, Noel shared on Instagram, "Everything will return to its rightful place. Please wait." This was a repost of a message originally posted on December 4 of last year, with no additional explanation. However, it appears to be a statement referring to his father, Jang Je-won, who has been accused of sexual assault.

Earlier on the 5th, amid Jang's investigation for sexual assault allegations, he hinted at leaving the party, stating, "I cannot burden the party with an unfortunate issue during these serious times, so I will temporarily leave the party." On the same day, Jang posted on Facebook, "The complainant's allegations are false," and added, "I will definitely clear my name and return."

He continued, "The complainant claims the sexual assault occurred 9 years and 4 months ago, in November 2015," and said, "I strongly suspect there is some special conspiracy or background behind suddenly raising such accusations nearly 10 years later."

He further stated, "I will definitely reveal the truth and will do my utmost to find materials and records from 10 years ago that can support the truth and respond legally," emphasizing, "If distorted reports are made based on the complainant's one-sided claims, I will have no choice but to take firm civil and criminal legal actions to protect my honor." He added, "It seems that a lonely and difficult time is beginning for me now," and said, "My heart aches when I think of those who had high expectations for me. I will overcome this well." The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is currently investigating the case after receiving a complaint accusing Jang of quasi-rape and injury. Jang is accused of sexually assaulting A, who was his secretary at the time, in November 2015 while he was serving as vice president of a university in Busan.
