As the Democratic Party primary for the Damyang County mayoral by-election in Jeonnam is reaching its final stages, former lawmaker Yoon Youngdeok, who had initially registered as a primary candidate but later withdrew voluntarily, has announced his full support for preliminary candidate Lee Jaejong.

On the afternoon of the 5th, Yoon visited Lee Jaejong's campaign office and stated, "Having worked together at the Blue House, I personally witnessed Lee Jaejong's policy acumen and practical abilities," emphasizing, "He is the right person to bring change to Damyang."

With Yoon Youngdeok officially declaring his support for Lee Jaejong following Kim Yongju, former head of the Damyang County Economic Department and also a former primary candidate, the momentum of support appears to be expanding.

Yoon added, "Lee Jaejong, my comrade from the Blue House, gained policy insight and experience in state administration as a Blue House administrator, and above all, has shown dedication to Damyang and its residents."

He continued, "The reason I considered running for Damyang County mayor myself was because I wanted to work properly for the region," and explained, "However, after seeing Lee Jaejong's capabilities and preparedness firsthand, I am confident he is trustworthy enough to entrust Damyang's future to."

Yoon also emphasized, "Although various opinions and visions were presented during the primary process, now is the time to unite for the greater goal of Damyang's development," and added, "Lee Jaejong understands the region and is a young, competent leader who can bring about real change. By thinking and cooperating together, we will help Damyang take a leap forward."

In response, Lee Jaejong expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank former lawmaker Yoon Youngdeok for his trust," and added, "We will join forces for the development of Damyang."

Lee Jaejong further pledged, "I will continue to communicate with the residents and bring about real change," and added, "I will steadily implement the pledges I have prepared for a completely new Damyang, one by one."

Meanwhile, Lee Jaejong was born in Subuk-myeon, Damyang County, and has served as an administrator at the Presidential Secretariat in the Blue House, deputy spokesperson for the Democratic Party central office, chief spokesperson for Moon Jaein's Gwangju campaign headquarters, and head of policy media for the Democratic Party.
