Gyeonggi Office of Education Conducts Fire Inspections at 156 School Dormitories... Until March 17

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will conduct fire prevention safety inspections on all dormitories and student-athlete dormitories in the province to mark the new semester.


The Office of Education announced on the 6th that it will carry out fire safety inspections on a total of 156 locations, including 126 dormitories and 30 student-athlete dormitories across the province, by the 17th. The inspections will be conducted directly by the Office of Education and the Education Support Offices. Special focus will be placed on facilities vulnerable to nighttime fires.

The main inspection items include ▲automatic fire detection equipment ▲automatic sprinkler systems ▲firefighting water supply facilities ▲fire doors (fire shutters) ▲evacuation exits (emergency exits) ▲fire pumps ▲flame-retardant materials, among others.


Earlier, on the 5th, Kim Jin-su, the First Deputy Superintendent of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, visited a high school in Hwaseong City to conduct an on-site inspection of the dormitory fire safety facilities.


At the site, Deputy Superintendent Kim emphasized, "Dormitory fires pose a high risk of large-scale casualties, so special prevention measures are necessary," urging thorough preparedness.
