Continued Operation of Drone Delivery Service at Tancheon and Jungang Park
Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) announced on the 6th that it has been selected for the final round of the "Drone Demonstration City Construction Project" hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for five consecutive years.

The "Drone Demonstration City Construction Project" is a project conducted by the Aviation Safety Technology Institute under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, aiming to discover drone utilization models tailored to regional characteristics and apply them to public services. Seongnam City achieved the distinction of being the first nationwide to be selected for five consecutive years.
As part of the "Drone Demonstration City Construction Project," Seongnam City is promoting △ AI (Artificial Intelligence) drone road safety service △ drone-utilized 3D model-based closed-circuit television (CCTV) installation location analysis. The AI drone road safety service is a project that uses AI drones to acquire real-time road hazard information and promptly eliminate it to ensure citizens' safety. Additionally, the drone-utilized 3D model-based CCTV installation location analysis service visualizes CCTV installation locations and shooting angles in a digital twin to analyze CCTV blind spots and possible installation sites, thereby strengthening public safety.
Meanwhile, the drone delivery service at Tancheon Stream and Jungang Park, implemented last year as part of the "Drone Demonstration City Construction Project," has been selected again this year in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "K-Drone Delivery Commercialization Support Project" and is expected to continue operating. This service delivers convenience items and food by drone to park visitors at locations such as the Tancheon water playground, Jungang Park picnic area, dog park, and Hwangtotgil trail.
In particular, this year’s drone delivery service will become more convenient with the addition of a "reservation delivery" feature, allowing citizens using the park to receive items at designated times they desire. Furthermore, river footage captured along the drone flight path will be linked to services for monitoring water quality in Tancheon and inspecting park facilities for damage caused by heavy rain and tree destruction.
The current drone demonstration city construction project is being carried out by a consortium formed by Barons, Baylis, and SysTech with Seongnam City, while the K-Drone Delivery Commercialization Support Project is being promoted with the participation of Prenew.
A Seongnam City official stated, "Through the 'Drone Demonstration City Construction Project' and the 'K-Drone Delivery Commercialization Support Project,' we will actively utilize the new technology of drones to secure an automated advanced administrative system and do our best to enable citizens to enjoy a safer and more convenient life."
