Discussion Forum to Eradicate Power Abuse at Golf Courses

On the 5th, Park Jeong-hoon, a member of the People Power Party, announced that he will hold a forum on the 7th at the National Assembly Members' Office Building, Seminar Room 2. The forum will focus on issues such as the de facto mandatory use of carts and caddies, excessive food and beverage prices, and green fee increases. It will also review practical solutions such as revising the standard terms and conditions for golf course use and restrictions on entertainment expense deductions under the Corporate Tax Act, similar to cases in Japan.

Attending the forum will be Seo Cheon-beom, Director of the Korea Leisure Industry Research Institute; Kim Hoon-hwan, Vice President of the Korea Golf Course Management Association; Kim Tae-young, Vice President of the Korea Public Golf Course Association; Shim Jjang, CEO of Shim Jjang Market; and Nam Hwa-young, Team Leader of JTBC Golf Clubhouse. Experts from various fields including golf industry stakeholders, consumer groups, and government agencies will share the current status of power abuse issues at golf courses and seek solutions.

Rep. Park said, "I will take the lead in improving practices and systems so that the public can enjoy golf with more reasonable costs and services," adding, "I will do my best to ensure that the discussions today do not remain mere problem raising but lead to substantial policy changes."
