Laying the Foundation to Achieve Carbon Neutrality Five Years Ahead of the National Target

On the 5th, Dangjin City in South Chungcheong Province announced that it received the Grand Prize in the Carbon Neutral City category at the "2025 Korea Consumer Evaluation Best Brand" awards ceremony held at The Plaza Hotel in Seoul.
Dangjin City has established five (5G) strategic initiatives?Green Energy, Green Station, Green Recycle, Green Tech, and Green Life?under the vision of "Dangjin Leading the Way to Carbon Neutrality," aiming to reduce local carbon emissions by about 930,000 tons, which is approximately 56% compared to 2018 levels, by 2030.
Based on these strategies, the city plans to build an integrated carbon neutrality platform that enables practical and pioneering carbon neutrality projects, encourages voluntary participation from citizens, and provides related benefits.
Additionally, Dangjin City was selected as the nation's first leading carbon neutral city on October 31, 2024, and plans to lay the foundation to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045, which is five years ahead of the national target year of 2050.
Dangjin Mayor Oh Seonghwan stated, "Thanks to Dangjin City's proactive efforts, we were able to receive the Grand Prize in the Carbon Neutral City category," and added, "We will implement active policies to address the changing climate, such as establishing an integrated carbon neutrality platform for a carbon-neutral society."
