Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, Submits Resident Petition to Seoul High Court to Stop Additional Incinerator Construction

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, personally submitted a petition signed by residents opposing the additional incinerator in Mapo to the Seoul High Court on the afternoon of March 5.

The petition contained the wishes of over 38,000 residents opposing Seoul City's unilateral plan to build an additional incinerator in Mapo.

After submitting the petition, Mayor Park Gang-su, along with representatives of the residents, reaffirmed their determination to cancel the additional incinerator and emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation.

Subsequently, the resident representatives and relevant department staff moved to Seoul City Hall and submitted the petition to the Open Civil Complaints Office, expressing strong opposition to the additional incinerator.

Mayor Park Gang-su stated, “Seoul City must accept the desperate cries of Mapo District and its residents, immediately withdraw the plan to build the additional incinerator, and take practical measures to solve the waste problem. Mapo District will continue to fight until the plan for the additional incinerator is completely canceled for the 370,000 residents of Mapo.”
