Faster and Closer with Drones
Accelerating Smart Logistics Delivery
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam achieved the remarkable feat of being the only city in Gyeongnam to be selected for the K-Drone Delivery contest project hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for three consecutive years (2023?2025).
Changwon Special City, the only city in Gyeongnam selected for the K-Drone Delivery Contest for three consecutive years.
This project involves discovering and proposing drone utilization models tailored to regional characteristics and demonstrating the services. This year, 26 out of 47 local governments nationwide were finally selected. The project is scheduled to start in March and continue until November.
Following last year's establishment of three delivery hubs and ten delivery points, the city plans to add about two more delivery points this year with the goal of becoming a "smarter logistics delivery city, Changwon Special City, delivering faster and closer by drone." Delivery hubs will include Daewon Leisure Sports Park, Buk-myeon Waterside Ecological Park, and Mannal Neighborhood Park, expanding the range of convenience items such as beverages and snacks for delivery.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “Through this project, for which we are the only city in Gyeongnam to be selected for three consecutive years, we will do our best to go beyond drone delivery demonstrations and achieve practical and commercial drone delivery, making Changwon Special City a smart logistics delivery city.”
