Korean Academy of Engineering, Iljin Awardees: Shin Kyungho and Jung Eunmi

Moon Il and Yoo Hyunjoon Receive Haedong Award
Ceremony to Be Held at Grand Walkerhill Seoul Hotel on the 12th

The National Academy of Engineering of Korea announced on the 5th that the 21st Iljin Award recipients are Shin Kyungho, Vice President of Research at Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), and Jung Eunmi, Senior Research Fellow at the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade (KIET).


Vice President Shin was recognized for his contributions during his tenure at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), where he founded the K-Club to promote technology commercialization and industry-academia-research collaboration, and established the K-Global Convergence Innovation Technology Small Giant Mini Cluster, laying the foundation for joint research projects among member companies. He received the award in the "Promotion of Industry-Academia Cooperation" category.

Senior Research Fellow Jung was honored in the "Technology Policy Development" category for proposing a Korean-style industrial development paradigm based on the characteristics and structure of Korean industry, and for identifying and deriving implementation plans for micro-level industrial and technology policies.


The Academy also selected Professor Moon Il of Yonsei University and Professor Yoo Hyunjoon of Hongik University as recipients of the 20th Haedong Award.


Professor Moon received the award in the "Innovation in Engineering Education" category for leading the establishment of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK) as its first Secretary-General and for strengthening Korea's engineering education competitiveness by facilitating Korea's accession to the Washington Accord international agreement.


Professor Yoo was recognized as the recipient in the "Expansion of Engineering Technology Culture" category for his efforts to make architecture and urban studies accessible to the general public through various public lectures and publications, thereby increasing public interest.


The Iljin Award, sponsored by the Iljin Science and Technology Culture Foundation, is given to individuals or organizations that have contributed to the promotion of technology policy and the enhancement of industry-academia cooperation. The Haedong Award, sponsored by the Haedong Science and Culture Foundation, is awarded to those who have contributed to innovation in engineering education and the expansion of engineering technology culture.


Recipients of the Iljin and Haedong Awards receive plaques and prize money of 25 million KRW each. The Wonik Award grants 10 million KRW for the grand prize and 5 million KRW for the excellence prize. The award ceremony will be held at 5:30 PM on the 12th at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul Hotel in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
