Damyang County in Jeonnam announced on the 5th that it has begun disinfection activities to proactively prevent mosquito-borne infectious diseases during the thawing season.
To this end, the county has organized a mobile disinfection team and, together with village-level autonomous disinfection groups, will carry out disinfection at over 730 locations?including septic tanks, public restrooms, and drains, which are major mosquito breeding grounds?until April.
The thawing season is a period when mosquitoes have weakened resistance, so conducting extermination disinfection at this time allows for efficient removal of larvae, resulting in a significant reduction in mosquito populations during the summer.
Damyang County is making various efforts to ensure a healthy summer for its residents by providing free rental of portable disinfection devices and distributing eco-friendly chemicals at no cost, encouraging residents to participate autonomously in disinfection activities.
A county official stated, "We will take a proactive approach to eco-friendly mosquito larva control to eradicate pests that occur in the summer, prevent infectious diseases, and create a pleasant residential environment."
