Gwangju Bank (President Ko Byungil) announced on the 5th that it held a "Wear Love for the New Semester" school uniform sponsorship event in Buk-gu, Gwangju, and delivered a donation of 5 million KRW.
The sponsorship event, held in Buk-gu, Gwangju, was attended by Moon In, head of Buk-gu District Office, and Kim Jonghun, Head of Business Division 3, among others.
The "Wear Love for the New Semester" school uniform sponsorship project is a social contribution initiative by Gwangju Bank to support students who face difficulties purchasing school uniforms and activity clothes at the start of the new semester.
Based on recommendations from the Buk-gu District Office in Gwangju, 10 students in need of school uniform support were selected. Through the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, funds were provided to these students for the purchase of school uniforms and activity clothes, offering them hope.
The "Wear Love for the New Semester" project, which has continuously provided school uniform support to local youth, marks its 10th year since its launch in 2016, and has delivered a total of 100 million KRW in donations to date.
In addition, Gwangju Bank has supported more than 4,600 local scholarship students with a total of 3.9 billion KRW in scholarships through the Gwangju Bank Scholarship Foundation, established in 1981.
Through initiatives such as "Hope Blossoms Study Room" (currently 147 locations) and "Hope Blossoms Dream Tree" (currently 12 locations), the bank continues to support local children and youth, establishing itself as a leader in spreading a culture of sharing and volunteerism in the community.
Kim Jonghun, Deputy President of Business Division 3, said, "We hope that this support will help create an environment where local students can focus on their studies," adding, "We will continue to promote various social contribution projects so that local talent can nurture their dreams and hopes."
