The women’s time-selective job project, actively promoted by Pohang City under the names ‘Eommachamsondan’ and ‘Ai Haengbok Doumi,’ involves performing tasks such as health and hygiene management, care assistance, meal assistance, environmental maintenance, and other support duties at daycare centers, kindergartens, local children’s centers, social welfare facilities, and public institutions.

During the safety training, education was conducted focusing on the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, as well as safety rules and practical cases that must be strictly followed at the workplace, to prevent accidents that may occur on site and to raise workers’ safety awareness.

In particular, the ‘Eommachamsondan’ launched on this day is a job that has received great response from local women hoping for work-life balance, and it has been implemented for 11 years since it started in 2015.

This project was recognized for its excellence in 2021, receiving the Excellence Award in the Social Welfare Service category at the 17th Korea Local Government Management Competition, and has firmly established itself as a project aimed at revitalizing the local economy and providing new opportunities for women with career interruptions.

The Eommachamsondan will participate in work from March to November, and the Ai Haengbok Doumi from February to December.

Jun Pyeon, Director of the Welfare Bureau, said, “I hope that the women’s time-selective job project will help women with career interruptions find new dreams and demonstrate their abilities,” adding, “We will actively discover women-friendly jobs to encourage economic participation across various social classes and strive to create a social atmosphere where work and family can coexist.”

Pohang City is providing one-stop employment and start-up support services for women with career interruptions through the Pohang Women’s New Work Center, including vocational training and the New Work Women Internship Program, and is making every effort to create a women-friendly city by supporting work-family balance through care systems such as the Working Mom & Sick Child SOS service and 24/7 daycare centers.
