The agreement, made during the ‘Drone Show Korea’ event held at BEXCO in Busan on the 27th of last month, aims to create joint value for industry-academia cooperation and the advancement of academic research in the drone security sector.

As drone technology is being utilized in various fields and its necessity and applicability in security are expanding, the two institutions have agreed to pursue continuous cooperation through research and development to strengthen the national disaster management system and the protection system of national critical infrastructure.

Through this agreement, the Emergency Response Technology Policy Research Center at Dong-A University and the Drone Security Strategy Research Institute at Soonchunhyang University plan to expand seminars and programs in the drone security field, develop and operate educational content, exchange equipment and research personnel, and explore and develop overseas projects.

Both institutions will continue their cooperation focusing on efforts to lead the localization of the K-Drone industry and to explore and apply various public service measures where drone technology can contribute to social safety.

Director Dong-gyu Lee stated, “The two institutions will collaborate and utilize our center’s patented technologies such as ‘Monitoring and Alert System for Sex Offenders Using Electronic Anklets’ and ‘Disaster Evacuation Guidance System Using Disaster Response Drones.’ We will secure empirical evidence for future AI control systems that integrate drones, IoT devices, and long-distance communication modules, as well as real-time data monitoring.”

Director Byung-seok Lee said, “Through this agreement, drone technology should rapidly foster a leading model that can drive innovation in the disaster safety sector for swift technological maturation and convergence, beyond police, firefighting, and defense fields. The time has come when K-Drone has become as important as Korea’s export industry K-Defense. Our research institute and Dong-A University’s Emergency Response Technology Policy Research Center will play a crucial role through cooperation.”
