A Nine-Day "Spring Festival" Until the 6th of Next Month
Crackdown on Illegal Night Markets and Street Vendors to Be Strengthened
The 2025 Yeongam Wangin Culture Festival, held in time with the beautiful blooming of cherry blossoms, will take place for nine days from the opening ceremony on the 29th until the 6th of next month.
According to Yeongam County and the Yeongam Culture and Tourism Foundation on the 5th, this year's Wangin Culture Festival has set its theme as "The Great Voyage" and finalized the detailed schedule and content.
The Yeongam County Local Festival Promotion Committee is focusing on giving value to the festival, aiming to create an event where visitors from all over the country can discover the meaning and various charms that Dr. Wangin brings to us, and to widely promote Yeongam's diverse attractions in an even more beautiful way alongside the cherry blossoms.
This year, in particular, there will be strengthened crackdowns on illegal night markets and street vendors, which have been the subject of complaints, to eradicate price gouging and ensure a pleasant viewing experience and stable price management through the implementation of its own price stabilization measures.
In addition, from the preparation stage of the festival, the organizing departments will work closely together to ensure reasonable pricing, intensively checking the posting of price tags and the appropriateness of prices, and strengthening on-site response to quickly address any price gouging.
The Yeongam Wangin Culture Festival, as a cultural tourism festival themed around Dr. Wangin, has become a representative spring festival in Korea, known for its differentiated content and active participation from local residents, and has received much praise from visitors over the years.
Kim Dongsik, head of the Tourism Division, stated, "It is expected that by the end of March, the pure white blossoms of the king cherry trees along the 40-kilometer cherry blossom road will burst into bloom, creating the perfect conditions to enjoy the parade of Dr. Wangin amid the pink rain of cherry blossoms that will fall until early next month. We hope you will come to see the cherry blossoms and enjoy a variety of content related to Dr. Wangin."
