Yeongju City to Open 'Neorang Narang Early Childhood Forest Experience Center' on the 10th

Enjoying Ecological Experiences in Nature

Yeongju City (Mayor Park Nam-seo) will open the "Neorang Narang Early Childhood Forest Experience Center" on the 10th, operating it until the end of November to help young children develop ecological sensitivity through various experiences in nature.

The Early Childhood Forest Experience Center was established in 2018 with a total project cost of 200 million KRW, covering an area of 20,000㎡ around Ajidong. It has steadily increased in users each year and is loved by children and parents alike.

The annual number of visitors has shown an increasing trend, with ▲7,374 in 2020 ▲7,414 in 2021 ▲8,703 in 2022 ▲8,993 in 2023 ▲9,630 in 2024, establishing itself as a representative early childhood nature experience facility in the region.

This year, the Early Childhood Forest Experience Center plans to operate various experiential activities using natural materials by permanently assigning four early childhood forest instructors to help children improve their physical health and feel emotional stability in nature.

The main programs include monthly themed activities such as △March "Finding Spring in the Forest" △April "Peekaboo! Find Me" △May "If the Bees Disappear (Carbon Neutrality)" △June "We Have Many Friends in the Forest" △July "Let's Find the Giving Tree" △August "Cicadas Chirping" △September "Playing with Insects" △October "What is a Seed?" △November "Plant Migration."

Participating children can directly experience the changes in nature and the flow of seasons in the forest, developing sensitivity and emotional empathy, while using various play facilities such as zip lines and rope playgrounds to enhance physical activity and adventurous spirit.

The Early Childhood Forest Experience Center operates in both regular and occasional (free-use) formats, and all programs are free of charge. The regular format is for kindergartens and daycare centers in Yeongju City, where selected institutions participate on weekdays weekly, biweekly, or monthly through recruitment announcements. The occasional format is for individual and family visitors from 3 PM to 5 PM on weekdays and can be used through advance reservation or on-site registration.

Geum Du-seop, Director of the Forestry Division, said, "We will do our best to provide various forest play activities so that children can develop ecological sensitivity in a nature-friendly space."
