There Was a Way to Greatly Reduce the Annoying Illegal Banners

Significant Impact of Yongin City's 'One-Touch Reward System'
10,000 Banners Collected in Two Months... Ten Times Last Year's Total

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is attracting attention for significantly reducing illegal banners that spoil the urban landscape solely by improving the reporting reward system.

According to Yongin City on the 5th, the city collected about 10,000 illegal banners over two months until last month this year. This is more than ten times the 1,000 banners removed through the citizen collection reward system throughout last year.

The significant increase in collection results is due to the effect of the newly introduced 'Citizen Collection Team' operation and the 'One-Touch Collection Reward System' starting this year. Previously, the citizen collection reward system required citizens to submit proof documents along with the reward claim form, as well as copies of their bankbook and ID card, by visiting the administrative welfare center in person to receive the reward after collecting illegal advertisements.

To improve the efficiency of collection activities, the city improved the existing claim method. The newly introduced system allows the Citizen Collection Team to receive rewards by simply taking photos of the banner before and after collection with a smartphone and uploading them to a dedicated cafe. This simplification of the procedure, enabling proof of collection activities with just one click, has been the driving force behind active participation from citizens who previously gave up claiming rewards due to complicated procedures or had no interest in collection activities themselves, according to the city.

A city official said, "Thanks to the Citizen Collection Team activities and the system that greatly improved administrative convenience, we were able to solve the illegal banner problem more quickly and efficiently," adding, "We will make the urban environment cleaner through the voluntary participation of citizens."
