Dong-A Otsuka plans to expand the use of sustainable PET materials to 50% by 2030 through the expansion of label-free products and strengthening investments in eco-friendly facilities. Recently, the Ministry of Environment announced legislation to raise the mandatory target rate for the use of recycled materials from 3% to 10% to promote plastic recycling. In response, Dong-A Otsuka proactively completed the production of the ‘Masinda’ bottled water product that meets this standard last month. Starting this year, the company will actively promote the introduction of eco-PET, expand label-free products, and invest in eco-friendly facilities to continuously reduce plastic usage.

Earlier, Dong-A Otsuka announced plans to strengthen eco-friendly management last year with the goal of realizing a “Plastic Zero Era by 2050.” Through the launch of the canned water product ‘THE Masinda,’ introduction of label-free products for Pocari Sweat and Line Barssa, and lightweight packaging for Narang Cider and Oran-C, the company reduced plastic usage by approximately 47 tons annually. This year, it plans to increase the reduction to about 50 tons.

Meanwhile, at the anniversary ceremony, Dong-A Otsuka awarded long-term service awards and union-recommended merit awards to a total of 67 employees, including 22 who have served for 30 years. Monetary rewards based on years of service were also given. The rice received instead of congratulatory wreaths for the anniversary will be donated to neighbors in need.
