Yeongdeungpo-gu Significantly Strengthens Support for Local Self-Sufficiency Projects Including Single-Meal Lunchbox Program

Eco-Washing Project Team Activities

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will expand and relocate the Yeongdeungpo Regional Self-Sufficiency Center to provide stable jobs and support self-reliance for low-income residents, thereby expanding customized self-sufficiency project support.

With completion targeted for this year, the existing Yeongdeungpo-dong Community Service Center building will be remodeled into a spacious and modern self-sufficiency center. Through this, a systematic self-sufficiency support environment will be established to build a sustainable job model.

Last year, the district significantly expanded employment opportunities by cooperating with the Regional Self-Sufficiency Center to provide jobs to a total of 4,987 residents.

In particular, the ‘Purumi Cleaning’ project team saw sales increase by 171% compared to the previous year, successfully leading the transition from public to private sector jobs. Additionally, the largest ‘Eco Washing Reusable Container Cleaning’ project team in Seoul (with a total floor area of 372.5㎡) was newly established, contributing to job creation in the eco-friendly sector.

Due to these achievements, the center received the ‘Encouragement Award’ in the program category at the Korea Self-Sufficiency Welfare Development Institute’s ‘Welfare, Employment, and Finance Self-Sufficiency Case Management Excellence Awards’ and was reselected for the ‘Self-Sufficiency Enterprise Professional Workforce Support Project.’

This year, job opportunities will be further expanded through ▲ the establishment of the ‘One Bowl Lunchbox Project Team’ providing care and meal services ▲ the opening of ‘Yeonghee’s Thrift Store Branch No. 2’ selling secondhand goods ▲ and the expansion of the ‘Eco Washing Reusable Container Cleaning Project Team.’

Furthermore, through ‘Yeongdeungpo-style Case Management,’ personalized support will be strengthened, and the ‘Asset Formation Support Project’ will continue to operate, providing practical financial support and asset management education so that residents willing to work can achieve economic independence.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “With the expansion of the self-sufficiency center, many residents will have opportunities to work and receive active support to become economically independent. We will create a sustainable self-sufficiency project model linked with the local community.”
