A Record 688 Companies Participate
The Largest Scale Ever
The 13th edition of the representative international battery industry exhibition, 'InterBattery 2025,' opened on the morning of the 5th at COEX in Seoul, with a record-breaking participation of 688 companies.
InterBattery 2025, held from the 5th to the 7th, features participation from government agencies, research institutes, and companies from 13 countries including the United States, Japan, Chile, and Brazil, as well as the three major domestic battery companies. This year’s exhibition includes a record number of 172 overseas companies. With 79 Chinese companies participating, including BYD, the world’s number one electric vehicle manufacturer, and EVE Energy, ranked ninth in global battery shipments, a technological competition between Korea and China is also unfolding.
LG Energy Solution will unveil the 46-series cylindrical battery, which offers higher energy and output compared to the existing 2170 cells. Samsung SDI will showcase a 50-ampere (A) class ultra-high output cylindrical battery with significantly enhanced output compared to previous batteries. SK On will present a 'pouch-type high-voltage mid-nickel battery' that combines high energy density, price competitiveness, and safety.
POSCO Future M will introduce the current status of completing the POSCO Group’s value chain through supply chain diversification involving nickel, graphite, and recycling. Korea Zinc plans to showcase its high-nickel precursor manufacturing technology, designated as a national advanced technology, to visitors. The Lotte Group’s chemical division, including Lotte Chemical, Lotte Energy Materials, and Lotte Infracell, will exhibit separator materials, organic solvents for electrolytes, ultra-clean high-end copper foil, high-quality aluminum cathode foil, and cell pouches.
EcoPro will reveal future growth engines such as its integrated cathode material corporation in Indonesia and solid-state new material development. Sungil Hi-Tech will showcase its battery recycling plant and ultra-clean eco-friendly recycling technology. L&F will unveil high-nickel cathode materials with over 95% nickel content, while Mintech, Ubat, and Mona will display innovative products awarded at the 'InterBattery Awards 2025.'
During InterBattery, various side events will be held, including the 'Battery Conference,' battery company recruitment briefings, a U.S. investment briefing, and a battery minerals seminar.
At the opening ceremony, Minister An Deok-geun of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy stated, "Last week, I visited the United States to request the maintenance of a stable investment environment for our companies in the U.S. Also, at this very moment, a 'public-private joint delegation' is actively communicating with the U.S. side by touring U.S. battery investment regions for outreach." He added, "To overcome the chasm, we plan to continue supporting the diversification of battery demand beyond electric vehicles by promoting electric vehicle demand through tax reductions on EV purchases and expansion of charging infrastructure, as well as increasing the energy storage system (ESS) market size up to 15 times the current domestic ESS production capacity by 2038."
Minister An also emphasized supply chain stabilization, saying, "We will actively consider various policy measures such as financial, tax, and fund support to promote domestic production of battery core minerals and materials, including anode materials."
