Gyeongbok University held the "34th Entrance Ceremony for the 2025 Academic Year" at the Wudang Art Hall on the Namyangju Campus on March 4.
The entrance ceremony was attended by 2,476 new students, along with parents, key university officials, department heads, and faculty members. The event proceeded in the following order: recitation of the Gyeongbok spirit, welcome address, declaration of admission and congratulatory remarks, scholarship certificate presentation, a speech by a representative student sharing their thoughts on admission, the initiation ceremony to celebrate the new students, and the singing of the school song.
The initiation ceremony is a unique event at Gyeongbok University, in which new students are congratulated by shaking hands with the faculty on stage.
In his congratulatory address, Gyeongbok University President Jeon Ji-Yong stated, "Through thank-you letters from our graduates, I have learned that the overseas experiences and scholarship support provided by Gyeongbok University became important turning points in their lives." He emphasized, "Gyeongbok University puts students' success first and is enhancing its competitiveness through student-centered integrated curricula, state-of-the-art practice centers, and employment-guaranteed industry-academia cooperation programs."
Gyeongbok University founder Jeon Jae-Uk, in a message delivered on his behalf by Song Yoon-Shin, Director of Admissions and Public Relations, encouraged the students to "always remember the importance of learning, put into practice the principle of Hongik Ingan, and strive to grow into individuals who embody the spirit of self-improvement and perseverance."
Lee Geun-Young, a nursing student who delivered the speech on behalf of new students, expressed, "At Gyeongbok University, I want to find my own path, pursue learning, and grow. I aim to develop myself and broaden my horizons not only through knowledge from books, but also through diverse experiences and challenges."
Alina, a student from the Department of Visual Design representing international students, said, "Although we come from different countries, we share the same desire to acquire professional knowledge and skills to become helpful people in the future. Through university education in Korea, I hope to strengthen my expertise, develop my own capabilities, grow alongside my peers, and create meaningful relationships."
Since May 2023, Gyeongbok University has maintained its position as the top-ranked brand in university reputation. According to university information disclosure data released by the Ministry of Education as of December 31, 2023, the university achieved an employment rate of 80.6%, ranking first in employment rate among all general and technical universities nationwide with more than 2,000 graduates.
