Honorary social welfare officers are unpaid, honorary personnel who serve as a human safety net by promptly reporting neighbors in need of help discovered during daily life or in areas beyond administrative reach, and assisting crisis households in receiving welfare services.
The training was attended by 36 honorary social welfare officers of Ilgwang-eup and covered topics such as ▲the concept and role of honorary social welfare officers ▲crisis household checklists ▲reporting procedures, and provided guidance on online reporting methods through the Ilgwang-eup KakaoTalk channel ‘Together Ilgwang’ welfare crisis alert app.
An honorary social welfare officer who participated in the training said, “It was a valuable training session that made me realize once again how important the role of the community human safety net is in early detection of families in need and cooperation with administration.”
Kim Kang-hyun, Eupjang of Ilgwang-eup, expressed, “I am always grateful to the honorary social welfare officers of Ilgwang-eup who take the time to look after their neighbors despite their busy schedules,” and added, “I hope you will continue to strive to make Ilgwang-eup a warm community where neighbors help neighbors, based on the valuable experience and efforts you have accumulated so far.”
