Gimpo City and the Office of Education have been preparing closely and cooperatively since 2019, and this year, 34 elementary students and 382 middle school students enrolled.

Following the opening on the 4th, the Gimpo City Together Care Center within Modam Elementary School will open on the 10th. This is the first care center established within a school in Gimpo City, and it will provide not only safe care but also practical conversation classes with native speakers, as well as science and art classes.

Gimpo City has worked hard in cooperation with schools and the Office of Education to secure appropriate placement space for middle schools within the Janggi Unyang middle school district. As a result, the opening of Modam Elementary and Middle School, an integrated elementary and middle school, was achieved, and furthermore, through cooperation, the Together Care Center within the school was able to open.

On this day, Gimpo Mayor Kim Byung-su attended the opening and entrance ceremony of Modam Elementary School along with Education Director Kim Young-ri to congratulate the students and parents taking their first steps in the new place.

At the opening ceremony, Mayor Kim Byung-su said, “I am truly pleased to share this meaningful moment welcoming the first students of Modam Elementary School,” and expressed gratitude, saying, “Today was possible thanks to the cooperation of the Office of Education, the school, and the parents who joined us here.”

He added, “As an education development special zone, Gimpo City will continue to provide specialized, high-quality education so that students can prepare for a healthy and bright future, and will create a stable care environment that anyone can trust and rely on at any time.”

Meanwhile, with the education development special zone project fully underway this year, Gimpo City will provide specialized care centers and safe companion services. The city expects that by offering high-quality programs from care services, it will nurture Gimpo children as future talents and greatly help reduce parents’ private education expenses.
