Migrant Woman to Read "Declaration of Women's Rights"
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, announced on the 4th that it will hold a commemorative event on the theme of gender equality to mark the upcoming March 8th International Women's Day.
The event will take place at 3 p.m. at the Suwan Culture and Sports Center under the slogan "Solidarity Through the Power of Women." It aims to promote women's rights and a more equal society, moving beyond discrimination and hate.
The first part of the event will feature a performance by the co-ed dance team "Klaxon," a reading of the "World Women's Rights Declaration" by a migrant woman, and awards for those who have contributed to gender equality. The second part will be a lecture by Park Pyochang, CEO of Pyochangwon Crime Science Research Institute, on "The Psychology and Prevention of Crimes Against Women." On the same day in Suwan-dong, there will also be hands-on lectures, poetry readings, and an exhibition of works by female artists.
Park Byungkyu, the head of Gwangsan-gu, said, "I will emphasize solidarity and coexistence for the restoration of democracy and the livelihood economy, and strive to create an equal Gwangsan-gu."
