On the 3rd (local time), Seongdae Cho, Vice President and Head of the Visual Solution Team at Samsung Electronics MX (Mobile Experience) Division, introduced the camera equipped in the Galaxy S25 series in this way. This means that they did not simply use a good camera sensor but also considered the combination with other components such as the AP to create the optimal 'camera combination.' The camera combination refers to software (SW) technology that oversees sensor and lens technology, as well as the application processor (AP) technology that processes these.

Vice President Cho introduced the camera technology equipped in the Galaxy S25 series at the 'Mobile World Congress 2025' (MWC 2025), which opened on the 3rd (local time) in Barcelona, Spain.

The Samsung Electronics Galaxy S25 Ultra is equipped with high-resolution camera sensors including a ▲50-megapixel ultra-wide camera ▲200-megapixel main camera ▲50-megapixel 5x zoom camera. Additionally, it features the next-generation 'ProVisual Engine' function, designed to allow easy photo-taking regardless of time and place.

Artificial intelligence (AI) models also assist in photography and editing. The Galaxy S25 series is equipped with a total of 160 AI technologies (models), which is more than 40% increase compared to the previous Galaxy S24 series. The performance of AI models for photography is supported by the Galaxy's 'Snapdragon 8 Elite' chipset. This chipset has improved neural processing unit (NPU) performance by 40%, and central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) performance by 37% and 30%, respectively, compared to the previous generation.

The goal of Galaxy camera development is to provide the best image quality and experience for anyone, anytime, anywhere. It also adheres to the principle that while providing shooting and editing experiences that satisfy professionals, editing should be easy and convenient. Vice President Cho said, "We maintained these Galaxy camera development principles in the Galaxy S25 series as well, and aimed to create various experiences that consumers can relate to."

Advanced shooting features such as virtual aperture for professionals and photography enthusiasts are also provided through the Galaxy camera app 'Expert RAW.' Existing smartphone cameras use fixed apertures, which limit depth expression, but the virtual aperture mode analyzes depth information from two images taken with the main (wide-angle) camera and ultra-wide camera to virtually express depth. For the virtual aperture effect, Galaxy AI learned from over 200,000 images taken by professionals.

The eraser function of generative editing has also been upgraded. Previously, when AI erased a subject from a photo, shadows remained, leading to an 'awkward' evaluation, but now AI recognizes related information such as reflections and shadows and generates images naturally. An audio eraser is also equipped to reduce unnecessary noise in recorded videos. This technology allows on-device AI to recognize and classify six types of sounds including voice, ambient sounds, noise, and wind noise, enabling editing as well.
