Xiaomi unveils new Xiaomi 15 Series lineup in Barcelona
Flagship 15 Ultra features top performance and camera design
Price reaches up to 1,499 euros (approx. 2.28 million KRW)
On the 2nd (local time), Xiaomi unveiled its latest flagship smartphone lineup, the 'Xiaomi 15 Series,' at a new product launch event held in Barcelona, Spain. The event, held a day before the opening of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, appears to be aimed at increasing market share in the premium segment through the newly released products.
This series is equipped with Leica Summilux optical lenses. The operating system features 'Xiaomi HyperOS 2,' supporting artificial intelligence (AI) functions, connectivity, and performance optimization.
The flagship model boasting the highest performance among the products unveiled that day, the 'Xiaomi 15 Ultra,' adopts a camera-inspired exterior design. Xiaomi explained that this design was applied to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Leica's camera 'Leica 1,' released in 1925.
Reflecting its camera-shaped exterior, Xiaomi emphasized enhanced camera performance. The main camera is equipped with Leica Summilux optical lenses and an 8P aspherical high-transmittance lens, supporting 14~200mm optical zoom. It offers a 70mm Leica floating telephoto camera optimized for portrait and street photography and supports macro shooting using a large sensor. Additionally, it can capture clear images even in dark environments like nighttime through 14EV high dynamic range.
The display features a 6.73-inch WQHD+ AMOLED panel, providing a maximum brightness of 3200 nits. The resolution is 3200x1440, with a pixel density of 522ppi.
The smartphone’s brain, the application processor (AP), is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile. Storage options include 512GB or 1TB with UFS 4.1 technology. The RAM is 16GB.
The weight ranges from 226 to 229 grams depending on the color, and it is available in three colors: Black, White, and Silver Chrome. The price starts at 1499 euros (approximately 2.28 million KRW). The domestic release has not yet been decided.
The standard model, Xiaomi 15, features a triple camera system supporting 14~120mm optical zoom. The Fast Shot mode allows shooting at a speed of 0.6 seconds at all focal lengths.
The Xiaomi 15 is also equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile, the same AP as the Ultra model. It features a smaller 6.36-inch AMOLED panel compared to the Ultra model. The resolution is 2670×1200, with a pixel density of 460ppi. The maximum brightness is 3200 nits, identical to the Ultra.
The Xiaomi 15 has 12GB of RAM and is available in 256GB or 512GB models using UFS 4.0 storage technology. The weight ranges from 191 to 192 grams depending on the color, and it comes in four colors: Black, White, Green, and Liquid Silver. The price starts at 999 euros (approximately 1.53 million KRW).
Both models in the Xiaomi 15 series come with Xiaomi HyperOS 2, which supports artificial intelligence (AI) features. Through Xiaomi’s AI model, Hyper AI, users can access tools such as AI writing and AI voice recognition. In collaboration with Google, Google’s AI service Gemini can also be utilized in Xiaomi’s own apps like Xiaomi Memo, Xiaomi Calendar, and Xiaomi Clock.
Regarding this, the US CNBC broadcast evaluated that Xiaomi has launched a product challenging Samsung Electronics with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Ben Wood, senior analyst at market research firm CCS Insight, told CNBC, "Xiaomi has built its brand very successfully with reasonably priced technology," adding, "Now, by entering the premium device market more, it is raising its value chain."
He pointed out that the premium smartphone market is saturated, saying, "All Android phone manufacturers want to take market share from Apple, but realistically, to grow in the Android (phone) market, you have to take share from other Android companies. In Xiaomi’s case, it means it has to erode Samsung Electronics’ market share."
At the event, Xiaomi also introduced new products such as tablet PCs, wireless earphones, and electric scooters. For tablet PCs, it showcased the AI-based Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 7. Both models feature an 11.2-inch 3.2K resolution display, support a 3:2 aspect ratio, and adaptive HDR. Accessories such as the Focus Keyboard, Xiaomi Focus Pen, and tablet covers are provided.
New wireless earphones include the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro and Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro Wi-Fi model. The Wi-Fi model is a wireless earphone that can connect directly to smartphones via Wi-Fi, allowing detailed adjustment of audio elements.
The Xiaomi Watch S4 features a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466x466, a pixel density of 326ppi, and a 60Hz refresh rate. The battery lasts up to 15 days and can be used for up to 2 days with a 5-minute charge. The Watch S4 applies an upgraded proprietary algorithm to precisely measure 24-hour heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, stress levels, and sleep patterns.
The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 Max is characterized by a rear dual spring suspension system that provides a smooth riding experience.
