The target routes are 921 (7 buses), 88B (15 buses), 850 (12 buses), and 790 (increased by 2 buses, from 8 to 10 buses).

As city buses previously operated under a private system are converted to the public management system, it is expected that citizens will receive friendlier and safer public transportation services due to improved treatment of transportation workers.

The 921 route, which is additionally converted this time, will apply a general fare system instead of the existing seat-type fare system, reducing the basic fare from 2,450 KRW to 1,450 KRW, thereby lowering the fare burden for Goyang citizens commuting to Seoul.

Route 88B, a student commuting route circulating between Ilsandong-gu and Ilsanseo-gu in Goyang, connecting academies and school facilities, was selected to promote public transportation activation in the first phase new town.

Route 850, which passes through Goyang-dong, Jugyo-dong, Hwajeong-dong, and Haengsin-dong and crosses north-south in Deogyang-gu, was selected to induce activation of internal traffic within Goyang City through conversion to the public management system.

Lastly, route 790, deployed as a replacement for Seoul city bus 774, will operate a total of 10 buses after continuous consultations with Gyeonggi Province to resolve user inconvenience, which is expected to improve Seoul accessibility for residents of Goyang-dong.

A Goyang Special City official said, “The conversion of city buses to the public management system is expected to prevent the departure of transportation workers among Goyang citizens and create jobs through a two-shift work system per day.”
