The city has been promoting "small weddings" since 2017 to improve the excessive high-cost wedding culture and encourage a reasonable yet meaningful wedding culture. So far, a total of 18 couples have held their weddings through this program.

The couple who were the main participants in this wedding also revealed that rather than a large wedding, they were considering a small wedding that was meaningful to the two of them. They happened to learn about the small wedding project supported by Pohang City and applied. They expressed gratitude to Pohang City for enabling them to have a meaningful wedding while reducing financial burdens.

Since the 25th of last month, the city has been recruiting candidates for the 2025 Pohang City "My Own Special Small Wedding" and plans to support five first-time engaged couples residing in Pohang City.

Selected couples will be supported with venue, wedding setting, groom and bride attire, hair and makeup, bouquet, and all wedding-related items. Wedding venues include five contracted businesses with Pohang City: Studio Ruda, Photopia, Tiffany Wedding Hall, Summit Convention, and Marine House Convention, as well as public places managed by Pohang City such as the Traditional Culture Experience Center and the City Hall outdoor park.

Applications for small weddings can be submitted by downloading the application form from the Pohang City website and sending it via email. Inquiries can be made to the Pohang City Women and Family Division.

Jung Yeon-hak, head of the Women and Family Division of Pohang City, said, "I sincerely congratulate the bride and groom who are starting anew on the first day of March when new sprouts emerge, and thank the wonderful couple for participating in the project to establish a reasonable wedding culture." He added, "I hope many people will participate in the small weddings supported by Pohang City to engrave the true meaning of marriage and to spread the atmosphere of overcoming low birth rates."
