Equipped with 10 Types of Specialized Practical Training Content
Enhancing Fire Facility Inspection Skills Expected
Daejeon Fire Headquarters announced that it has established and officially begun operating a training center for fire facility education and drills utilizing virtual reality (VR) technology.
The virtual reality (VR) fire facility education program is equipped with a total of 10 specialized practical training contents, including fire extinguisher inspection and usage, indoor fire hydrant inspection and usage, and sprinkler inspection methods.
In particular, by using hand tracking technology to recognize the trainees' hand movements, a virtual space similar to the actual inspection environment has been created. In addition, the program is divided into learning and evaluation modes, allowing for step-by-step practice.
Daejeon Fire Headquarters expects that this program will enhance the practical inspection skills and expertise of firefighters, and by allowing practice of rarely encountered gas-based fire extinguishing systems in an environment identical to reality, it will help prevent malfunctions and accidental discharge of extinguishing agents that may occur in the field.
Kang Daehoon, head of Daejeon Fire Headquarters, said, "Through virtual reality fire facility training, this will be an opportunity to further improve the inspection skills of Daejeon firefighters," adding, "We will do our best to provide fire safety services that citizens can trust even more through repeated education and training."
