This project was carried out to improve the long-standing commuting route issues near Daegot Elementary School in the area and to actively ensure the safety of students. Through this agreement, it is expected that the safe commuting environment for Daegot Elementary students will be greatly improved.

The agreement focuses on joint cooperation to newly create a safe pedestrian path for students by utilizing the school grounds of Daegot Elementary School to connect approximately 75 meters of disconnected sidewalks and install protective fences to resolve safety issues caused by narrow roads.

To address this, under the 8th term of the civilian government, Gimpo City has been actively working since 2023 to listen to the voices of Daegot Elementary students, parents, and teachers on site, reflecting survey opinions, and promoting the project as a special disaster safety management grant policy project by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in 2024.

After this agreement, the city plans to use the school grounds at 444 Yulsaeng-ri, Daegot-myeon, and three other parcels to demolish the existing fence and carry out construction to install sidewalks. After conducting a detailed design service in March, construction will begin in May and is expected to be completed by the end of July.

Mayor Kim Byung-su of Gimpo City stated, “Through this agreement, a commuting environment where parents and children can feel safe will be established,” adding, “Gimpo City prioritizes the safety of its citizens and the qualitative improvement of daily life. We will do our best to ensure continuous changes that can be felt in everyday life.”
