Uiryeong Cultural Center Holds Regular General Meeting and Cultural Center Director Inauguration Ceremony

The Uiryeong Cultural Center in Gyeongnam held the 2025 Uiryeong Cultural Center General Assembly and the 11th and 12th Director Seong Su-hyun’s Farewell Ceremony and the 13th Director Kang Shin-gun’s Inauguration Ceremony at the Gunmin Cultural Hall, attended by over 300 cultural center members.


At the general assembly held on the 27th, the 2024 financial settlement, awards ceremony for outstanding members, 2025 budget, major business reports, and discussions on current issues were conducted.

After the general assembly, amid enthusiastic applause from many guests and cultural center members, the farewell ceremony for the 11th and 12th Director Seong Su-hyun and the inauguration ceremony for the 13th Director Kang Shin-gun were held.


Uiryeong County Governor Oh Tae-wan personally presented the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Uiryeong County Governor’s plaques of appreciation, honoring Director Seong Su-hyun’s 19 years of service from the cultural center secretary to director. Jang Moon-seok, acting director of the Gyeongnam Cultural Center Federation, presented a commemorative plaque for his tenure, and the new director Kang Shin-gun presented a plaque of appreciation to bid farewell to Director Seong Su-hyun.


Governor Oh Tae-wan praised, “Director Seong Su-hyun, who is stepping down, has led the Uiryeong Cultural Center with dedication for 19 years, from secretary to director, laying the foundation for cultural arts in Uiryeong County. On this solid cultural arts foundation, the Rich Rich Festival achieved the great honor of winning the Korea Cultural Festival Content Award.”


He added, “Together with the newly appointed Director Kang Shin-gun, we aim to leverage the cultural and artistic potential of our county and, with all the cultural center family members, advance to become Korea’s number one cultural hub.”


Meanwhile, the new Director Kang Shin-gun graduated from Uiryeong Elementary School and the Department of History at Gyeongnam University, worked at Doosan Group, operates Aram Food, and served as the director of the Uiryeong Cultural Research Institute affiliated with the Uiryeong Cultural Center. He was elected as the Uiryeong Cultural Center Director on January 23 with 67.13% of the vote. His term is four years, and he will begin his duties on March 1.
