The association stated, "Representative Kim has upheld his convictions to protect the values of justice and democracy, undeterred by external pressure and opposition," and added, "In particular, despite interference from groups attempting to distort the historical truth of the May 18 Democratic Movement, he demonstrated noble action by visiting the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery and personally offering chrysanthemums to the victims."
