Samsung Electronics' personalized artificial intelligence (AI) smartphone, the ‘Galaxy S25 series,’ has set a new record for the fastest domestic sales of 1 million units among all Galaxy series. The combination of ‘easy and intuitive AI features, a thinner and lighter design, and the New Galaxy AI Subscription Club’ drove the sales.
According to Samsung Electronics on the 28th, the Galaxy S25 series, which went on sale on the 7th, surpassed 1 million units sold domestically as of the 27th, just 21 days after its launch. A Samsung Electronics official stated, "This is the fastest record among all Galaxy series and is one week faster compared to the previous Galaxy S24 series. It also broke the previous shortest sales record of 25 days held by the Galaxy Note 10 by 4 days, setting a new record in over five years."
The model with the highest sales was the top-tier ‘Ultra.’ The S25 series consists of three models: the base model, Plus, and Ultra, with half of the sales coming from the Ultra. This clearly shows consumers’ preference for high-end products. A Samsung Electronics official said, "Consumers show strong interest in the personalized Galaxy AI." Representative AI features include ‘Now Brief,’ which provides information based on the user’s interests, and Google’s ‘Gemini’ voice assistant service, which is activated by long-pressing the AI button located on the right side.
In a survey conducted by Samsung Electronics targeting Galaxy S25 series buyers, the top factor influencing purchase decisions was ‘performance,’ including the latest processor and memory. All models are equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite AP chip.
The thinner and lighter design also contributed to the sales. The Galaxy S25 series features rounded curved corners on all models, and the thickness has been reduced by 0.4 mm compared to the previous generation. The weight has been reduced by 14g for the Ultra, 6g for the Plus, and 5g for the base model. Among the models, the ‘Galaxy S25 Ultra,’ which features a titanium frame and a 200-megapixel camera, accounted for half of the sales share. The ‘Galaxy S25 Ultra’ was most popular in Titanium Silver Blue and Titanium White Silver colors, while the ‘Galaxy S25 Plus’ and ‘Galaxy S25’ were most chosen in Ice Blue and Silver Shadow colors.
Samsung Electronics’ ‘New Galaxy AI Subscription Club’ attracted a large number of young customers. The ‘New Galaxy AI Subscription Club,’ available when purchasing an unlocked Galaxy S25 series model, offers a 50% residual value guarantee upon device return after one year of use, along with the ‘Samsung Care+ Smartphone Damage Plus’ benefits. One in five customers who pre-ordered the unlocked Galaxy S25 series joined the subscription club. About 60% of the subscribers were in their 20s and 30s, making it especially popular among young customers.
Jung Hojin, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Korea, said, "We will continue to expand sales through various customer benefit programs."
