Nonsan City Appoints New Members to the Community Welfare Council

Nonsan City, Chungnam Province, announced on the 28th that it held the 'Nonsan City Community Social Security Council New Member Appointment Ceremony' and reviewed the '2024 Annual Implementation Results of the Community Social Security Plan'.

The Community Social Security Council is a public-private cooperation body aimed at enhancing social security in the region, including welfare, health, employment, housing, and education. It operates with the goal of establishing a community protection system and efficiently utilizing welfare resources through collaboration with related institutions, corporations, organizations, facilities, and academia.

The city is composed of a representative council, a working council, six working subcommittees, 13 departments across five bureaus at city hall, and 15 town, township, and neighborhood community social security councils.

According to last year's implementation results of the community social security plan, under the vision of 'Reliable Companionship, Happiness Together in Nonsan,' four main strategies and 47 detailed projects were included: △Establishing a community-based care system tailored for children △Creating a safe and smart welfare environment △Realizing community welfare for the self-reliance of the socially vulnerable △Building a meticulous Nonsan-style welfare system. Among these, seven projects were carried out.

In particular, through meetings of the working subcommittees and the citizen monitoring group, a comprehensive evaluation of indicators such as effectiveness, sustainability, impact, and public-private cooperation was conducted. As a result, the following projects were selected as outstanding: △Support for functional improvement of the developmental disability risk group (1st place) △Strengthening response to urban violence for a safer city (2nd place) △Establishment of a future education system (AI, coding, software education) (3rd place).

Mayor Baek Seonghyeon stated, "The Community Social Security Council serves as the focal point of public-private cooperation, making the roles and sense of duty of the members extremely important," and added, "I hope the Nonsan Community Social Security Plan will serve as the foundation for building Nonsan into a warm welfare city."
