This concert features the Ditto Orchestra, the resident ensemble of Gangdong Art Center, performing a special stage with world-renowned soprano Hwang Soo-mi and conductor Kim Kwang-hyun, promising to deliver the excitement and romance of spring.

The performance will begin with the overture of Johann Strauss II’s operetta ‘Die Fledermaus,’ followed by a diverse repertoire including Gounod’s ‘Ave Maria’ and Leh?r’s ‘You Are My Heart’s Delight.’ Especially, the addition of sweet waltzes and polkas is expected to highlight the vitality of spring even more.

Conductor Kim Kwang-hyun, who leads the performance, has demonstrated exceptional skills across various classical genres such as symphony, opera, and ballet. At the age of 33, he served as the youngest ever music director and principal conductor of the Wonju City Symphony Orchestra for seven years.

The highlight of the concert is the stage of world-class soprano Hwang Soo-mi. Since winning the 2014 Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition, she has performed on top stages such as the Metropolitan Opera and the Royal Opera House. She received great acclaim for singing the Olympic anthem at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. In this concert, her clear and powerful tone combined with conductor Kim Kwang-hyun’s delicate interpretation is expected to deliver a profound emotional experience.

The Ditto Orchestra has been the resident ensemble at Gangdong Art Center since 2022, showcasing a new future for classical music with high-quality performances and fresh interpretations. This year, they plan to present various performances including the Gangdong Art Center regular concerts.

Kim Young-ho, CEO of the Gangdong Cultural Foundation, said, "This year, high-quality classical performances such as the Son Yeol-eum × Going Home Project, Van Cliburn Competition Winners Concert, and Baek Gun-woo Piano Recital are prepared," adding, "We hope you enjoy a refined cultural life at Gangdong Art Center."

Tickets for this performance can be reserved through the Gangdong Cultural Foundation website or the Gangdong Art Center customer center.
