Headquarters and Site Offices of Primary and Subcontractor Construction Companies Targeted
Employment authorities and the police will conduct a search and seizure of Hyundai Engineering, the construction company, in connection with the collapse accident at the Sejong-Anseong Expressway Section 9 construction site in Anseong-si, Gyeonggi Province, which occurred on the 25th.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 28th, the Gyeonggi Employment and Labor Office has deployed about 80 personnel along with the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency to carry out the search and seizure starting from 9:30 a.m. that day.
This search and seizure targets the headquarters and site offices of the primary and subcontractor construction companies related to the bridge girder collapse accident that occurred at the road construction site in Anseong-si, Gyeonggi Province on the 25th.
The Gyeonggi Employment and Labor Office explained, "Through this search and seizure, we plan to thoroughly investigate the cause of the collapse that resulted in multiple casualties by examining the bridge girder installation plans and work methods."
Earlier, at around 9:50 a.m. on the 25th, a structural collapse occurred during bridge installation work at the expressway construction site in Anseong-si, Gyeonggi Province. Ten workers who were on site were either killed or injured in the accident.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 27th that it will implement emergency follow-up measures for three weeks until the 21st of next month to prevent recurrence of the same or similar accidents.
They will conduct industrial safety inspections at 22 construction sites where Hyundai Engineering is carrying out road, railway, and excavation work, and will also perform urgent safety checks at 349 high-risk bridge construction sites nationwide where the distance between bridges exceeds 50 meters.
