LG CNS announced on the 28th that it has obtained the 'Disaster Mitigation Excellence Certification' from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for four data centers (Sangam, Busan, Gasan, Hanam). The Sangam, Busan, and Gasan data centers are owned and operated by LG CNS, while the Hanam data center is operated under consignment.
The Disaster Mitigation Excellence Certification is a system that evaluates the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) to ensure that business activities are not interrupted in the event of a crisis such as a disaster, and awards certificates to outstanding companies. LG CNS data centers received high marks for their uninterrupted power supply capabilities and disaster response measures such as fire and earthquake.
LG CNS data centers provide customers with uninterrupted service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They are equipped with uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, which are core infrastructure facilities of data centers, and supply power stably from redundant substations. Even when power supply is interrupted, the self-generation system can supply power of the same capacity. An annual Power Interruption Test (PIT) is conducted to verify whether the core facilities of the data center operate normally by actually cutting off the power.
In addition, based on digital twin technology, the power system of the data center has been implemented in 3D. In the past, it took time to dispatch personnel to the site to identify problems when a power system failure occurred. Through 3D visualization of power equipment and power flow, intuitive situation awareness and rapid response are possible without going to the site.
Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is also used to enhance the safety of the data centers. For example, AI closed-circuit television (CCTV) immediately detects and warns of fire risk signals if smoke rises or small flames occur in the data center. In addition, technologies and facilities such as air intake detectors and fire detectors are operated.
Kim Tae-hoon, Executive Vice President and Head of LG CNS AI Cloud Division, emphasized, "It is highly meaningful that all data centers operated by LG CNS have been recognized domestically and internationally for their excellence in disaster response capabilities," adding, "We will continue to enhance customer value so that corporate clients can safely use data center services."
