The National Credit Union Federation of Korea (NACUFOK) announced on the 28th that it held the 'Jeonju Hanji Public-Private Cooperation Performance Sharing Meeting' jointly with Jeonju City at the Jeonbuk National University International Convention Center.

The event held the previous day was attended by key figures including Kim Yoon-sik, President of NACUFOK, Woo Beom-gi, Mayor of Jeonju City, and Nam Kwan-woo, Chairman of Jeonju City Council. They shared the achievements of the Jeonju Hanji public-private cooperation project, which NACUFOK and Jeonju City have been promoting together for seven years since 2018, and declared the future vision of Jeonju Hanji.

Since signing a business agreement with Jeonju City in December 2018, NACUFOK has contributed to revitalizing the Jeonju Hanji industry by implementing various support projects such as ▲supporting the establishment of the Jeonju Hanji Cooperative ▲developing sales channels for Hanji ▲participating as the main sponsor of the Jeonju International Hanji Industry Expo ▲training successors for Jeonju Hanji artisans ▲supporting traditional Hanji window paper for the four major Joseon palaces and Jongmyo Shrine ▲signing an additional business agreement to create a K-Hanji Village ▲and planting and utilizing dak trees for 100% domestic production of traditional Hanji.

In particular, NACUFOK has continued cooperation after supporting the establishment of the Jeonju Hanji Cooperative, laying the foundation for the cooperative's steady growth. As a result, the Jeonju Hanji Cooperative recorded cumulative sales of 3.3 billion KRW as of 2024, playing a significant role in enhancing the competitiveness of the traditional Hanji industry.

Woo Beom-gi, Mayor of Jeonju City, said, "The Jeonju Hanji revitalization project carried out together by Jeonju City and NACUFOK is a model case of establishing a public-private cooperation system," adding, "Jeonju City will also strive to expand Jeonju Hanji beyond mere preservation into industrialization through continuous support and project development."

Kim Yoon-sik, President of NACUFOK, stated, "As a financial cooperative based in the local community, NACUFOK fulfills its responsibility for regional industrial revitalization and preservation of traditional culture," and added, "The Jeonju Hanji support project is a representative case of practicing NACUFOK's mission and social responsibility."

He continued, "Through the cooperation between NACUFOK and Jeonju City, Jeonju Hanji is advancing from the revival stage to the development stage," emphasizing, "We will actively utilize NACUFOK's international network to support overseas exports and global market expansion so that Jeonju Hanji can establish itself as a world-class premium brand in 20 to 30 years."

Meanwhile, Kim Yoon-sik, President of NACUFOK, was recognized for his contributions and was selected as the only honorary citizen of Jeonju since 2023 by Jeonju City. At the event, he received the honorary citizen certificate from Woo Beom-gi, Mayor of Jeonju City.
