Gyeonggi Province will conduct safety inspections at 79 public construction sites and other locations across the province ahead of the thawing season.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters announced that from the 27th of this month to the 14th of next month, it will carry out thawing season safety inspections at a total of 79 sites, including public construction sites (18 roads, 8 buildings) and vulnerable facilities (53 cut slopes).
For this inspection, the Construction Headquarters formed a public-private joint inspection team composed of external experts in the relevant fields (130 civil engineering technical advisory committee members and 65 architectural experts from the Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters), site representatives from each construction site, construction project management technicians, and construction supervisors.

The inspections will focus on cut slopes adjacent to roadsides, temporary facilities or cut sections at construction sites where the ground has frozen and thawed posing high accident risks, and the presence of structural subsidence and cracks.
In particular, to prevent accidents in bridge sections like the collapse accident on the Sejong?Anseong Expressway, nine sites including 20 bridges and 3 tunnels, such as the Ihwa?Samgye road widening and expansion project, will be intensively inspected for compliance with safety rules during structure construction, appropriateness of construction plans, establishment of safety management plans, and worker safety education.
Minor issues found during inspections will be immediately corrected on site, and facilities requiring repair, reinforcement, or detailed safety diagnosis will be subject to emergency measures such as usage restrictions on site, followed by appropriate subsequent actions to ensure safety.
Kim Yongcheon, head of the Provincial Construction Headquarters, stated, "We will do our best to strengthen safety inspections at construction sites currently building bridges and tunnels among the inspection targets to prevent safety accidents in advance."
