Tourism Organization Participates in US Medical Tourism Summit... Introducing Korean Medical Tourism Products

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 27th that they participated in the '2025 Global Medical Tourism Summit' held in Florida, USA, on the 24th-25th (local time) to promote the strengths of Korean medical tourism and introduce medical tourism products for visiting Korea.

The Global Medical Tourism Summit, hosted by the Medical Tourism Association (MTA) of the United States, was attended by over 250 medical tourism organizations and industry experts from around the world. Established in 2007, MTA is a global nonprofit association that organizes networks for the development of medical tourism and international patient industries, certifies medical services, and holds conferences for related professionals.

The Korea Tourism Organization participated in this event along with a total of four institutions, including domestic medical institutions and specialized medical tourism agencies. In particular, they took part in the official panel session of the summit to introduce Korea's differentiated medical tourism programs and strategies for attracting overseas medical tourists.

In March, the Korea Tourism Organization plans to promote excellent Korean medical tourism products on 'Better by MTA,' a new medical tourism platform launched by MTA in collaboration with Mastercard. Better by MTA is a medical tourism platform that provides smooth connections between global medical tourists and healthcare providers, as well as a secure payment system.

The Korea Tourism Organization's New York office has been steadily participating in local medical tourism conferences since 2020 to establish a foundation for Korean medical tourism products to enter the North American market. Additionally, through collaboration between the headquarters and domestic medical institutions, they have promoted various projects such as inviting key stakeholders for medical tourism familiarization tours to Korea.

Lee Young-geun, Director of International Marketing Support at the Korea Tourism Organization, stated, "According to MTA, more than 14 million people travel to other countries annually for treatment purposes, and demand for overseas medical tourism is expected to surge in the North American region due to high medical costs." He added, "The Korea Tourism Organization will spare no effort in supporting the development of medical tourism markets by leveraging Korea's advanced medical technology and infrastructure and strengthening cooperation with MTA."
