Establishing a Triple Internal Control System with Branch Managers, Specialists, and Managers
Chairman Im Appeals for Responsibility While Shaking Hands with Internal Control Personnel
Im Jong-ryong, Chairman of Woori Financial Group, gathered the group's on-site internal control personnel from across the country in one place to assess the current state of the group's internal controls and urged them to strive for ironclad internal control.
On the 27th, Woori Financial held the 'Internal Control On-Site Inspection Meeting' at the Synergy Hall of its headquarters, attended by about 100 people including Chairman Im Jong-ryong and the group's internal control personnel, and decided to concentrate the company's full capabilities to restore trust.
The 'Internal Control On-Site Inspection Meeting' was held for the first time on this day as a demonstration of Chairman Im's determination to personally oversee internal controls on-site. Going forward, Chairman Im plans to regularly preside over meetings directly to closely examine internal control issues on the ground. Additionally, the holding company's compliance officer will continuously tour nationwide to inspect business sites and work on accident prevention.
At the meeting, Chairman Im Jong-ryong personally delivered a 40-minute special lecture titled "Internal Control, the Power of Invisible Principles" in front of the internal control personnel. Chairman Im emphasized the importance of internal control as well as the role of internal control personnel deployed at the forefront of business operations. After the meeting, Chairman Im attracted attention by shaking hands individually with the internal control personnel and appealing to them to take responsibility for internal control on-site.
Chairman Im emphasized, "Let us continue to turn our successful experiences in internal control into best practices and show the market and customers our competitiveness that will be completely transformed."
Furthermore, Woori Bank announced that it has established a "Triple Internal Control Management System" by deploying Internal Control Managers, Internal Control Specialists, and Internal Control Branch Managers at business sites.
In addition to the 148 Internal Control Managers who were assigned to major key branches and responsible for daily audits, Woori Bank newly deployed a total of 57 Internal Control Specialists last month, with 1 to 2 assigned to each nationwide business headquarters. These Internal Control Specialists conduct themed inspections tailored to the characteristics of their respective business headquarters and perform monthly regular audits of subordinate branches.
