Handonghun Tops Bestseller List in Just One Day After Release... Includes Text Messages Just Before Martial Law Announcement

Public Appearances Such as Lectures Scheduled for Early Next Month

The book by former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon topped the comprehensive bestseller list just one day after its release.

According to Yes24 and Kyobo Bookstore on the 27th, Han's book "The People Come First," released the previous day, ranked first on the comprehensive bestseller list for domestic books in the fourth week of February.

In the book, former leader Han revealed his feelings about the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol. He said, "Supporting the impeachment of the president produced by our party was a very painful decision for me as well. It was even more so considering my long-standing relationship with President Yoon," adding, "It was truly difficult because I knew well the emotional wounds that supporters would suffer by supporting President Yoon's impeachment."

He continued, "I sincerely apologize for the hurt caused by the impeachment," and said, "Because I empathize with those feelings, I refrained from any external activities for more than two months after resigning as party leader on December 16 last year."

Regarding Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, he stated, "If Lee becomes president, I believe he will do anything to prevent the confirmation of his guilty verdict," and argued, "If we do not strictly condemn martial law now, there will be no justification to stop Lee Jae-myung's martial law." The book also includes text messages exchanged with senior presidential office officials just before the martial law announcement, as well as conversations with President Yoon last year.

Former leader Han plans to begin public appearances such as lectures and book concerts starting early next month.
