The ‘Fishing Village Revitalization Project’ is a program in which the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will invest 3 trillion KRW over five years from 2023 to support 300 fishing villages nationwide. It is promoted in three types: ▲Type 1 (Establishment of Economic Infrastructure in Fishing Villages), ▲Type 2 (Improvement of Living Infrastructure in Fishing Villages), and ▲Type 3 (Maintenance of Safety Infrastructure in Fishing Villages).
This year, Boseong County applied for Haedo Port under Type 3 and was finally selected after overcoming a competition ratio of 6 to 1 nationwide.
With this selection, Boseong County has secured a total of 39.9 billion KRW in national funding for fishing village development projects, including Type 1 in 2023 (Yulpo Port, 30 billion KRW), Type 3 in 2024 (Gunnong Port, 5 billion KRW), and Type 3 in 2025 (Haedo Port, 4.9 billion KRW), enabling the continuous promotion of fishing village development.
Through this project, Haedo Port will promote projects under the theme ‘Haedo Port, the Center of Yeojaman Tidal Flat Marine Garden!’ for three years until 2027, including ▲expansion of the wharf, ▲construction of fishing gear and net warehouses, ▲dredging within the port, ▲extension of the passenger ship dock, and ▲improvement of the village landscape.
Kim Cheolwoo, the county governor, said, “We will faithfully implement the ‘Fishing Village Revitalization Project,’ which has been selected for three consecutive years, to create prosperous fishing villages,” and added, “We will continue to discover new projects to improve the quality of life and increase income for those in the marine, fishing village, and fishing industries, thereby revitalizing the fishing village economy.”
