Leading the Way in Raising Disability Awareness for 166 Participants
Seo-gu District in Gwangju (District Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 27th that it conducted basic training, including safety and health education, for 166 participants in the '2025 Employment Project for Persons with Disabilities'.

This training was organized to enhance participants’ understanding of the project and their job performance abilities, as well as to teach them how to prepare for and respond to various safety accidents so that they can work in a safe environment. The training covered ▲safety and health ▲prevention of sexual harassment ▲improvement of disability awareness.
District Mayor Kim Ikang stated, “In order to expand social participation and guarantee stable income for persons with disabilities, we will discover and provide quality job opportunities, and establish an integrated care system for elderly persons with disabilities so that they can lead healthy lives in their daily routines, ultimately creating a 'barrier-free city without prejudice or discrimination.'”
Seo-gu has provided jobs to a total of 557 persons with disabilities through the employment project over the past three years.
Meanwhile, Seo-gu is the only district in the Gwangju region to allocate its own budget and provide jobs to 49 persons with disabilities in four areas: ▲independent jobs for persons with severe disabilities ▲customized rights promotion projects for persons with hearing and speech disabilities ▲organizing and storage jobs ▲side dish support linked to jobs for persons with disabilities and the elderly.
In addition, Seo-gu is taking the lead in helping participants achieve self-fulfillment, alleviating the care burden on families of persons with disabilities, and creating and distributing customized public jobs tailored to the characteristics of persons with disabilities.
