Operation from Taean-eup to Yeongmok Port begins... First service on March 1
One hour from Taean to Yeongmok Port... Half the time of rural buses
Taean County in South Chungcheong Province will launch a new express seat bus route starting in March to alleviate transportation inconveniences for residents in remote areas.
The county announced that the new express seat bus route will depart from Taean-eup Terminal, pass through the center of Gonam-myeon, and reach Yeongmok Port, with its first operation scheduled for March 1.
This addition aims to enhance transportation welfare for residents of Gonam-myeon, the southernmost area of Taean. Until now, residents living in the center of Gonam-myeon and Yeongmok Port had to transfer to a seat bus at Anmyeon-eup or use rural buses that stop at every station when visiting Taean-eup, causing inconvenience.
To address this, the county achieved the new route through ongoing discussions with Taean Passenger Transport. With the introduction of the express seat bus, travel time from Gonam-myeon to Taean-eup will be about one hour, roughly half that of the rural bus, which is expected to significantly improve the quality of life for local residents.
The Gonam-Yeongmok express seat bus will operate twice a day (departing from Yeongmok Port at 10:00 a.m. and 3:10 p.m.). The fare is set at 4,000 won one-way, the same as the existing Kkotji Beach express bus route, to reduce the burden on passengers.
The county plans to actively promote the new route to encourage resident use and, in cooperation with Taean Passenger Transport, continue to improve transportation policies such as fares and routes to further alleviate inconveniences.
A county official stated, "The addition of this seat bus route is a measure to minimize inconvenience for residents in remote areas and to promote balanced regional development," adding, "Given the positive response to our various transportation initiatives so far, we will continue to pursue projects that put residents first."
Meanwhile, Taean County is implementing various policies such as the introduction of a 'unified fare system' for rural buses regardless of distance, expanding free bus fare eligibility, operating a 'Mobility Support Center for the Transportation Vulnerable,' and deploying 'boarding and alighting assistants' at bus stops.
