The number of visitors to Taean County, Chungnam, which has launched the operation of the '2025 Year of Visiting Taean' this year, saw a significant increase in January.
Taean County announced that, according to the 'Regional Tourism Status' analysis from the 'Korea Tourism Data Lab' operated by the Korea Tourism Organization, the number of visitors to Taean in January this year was tallied at 979,107. This marks a 13.1% increase (about 110,000 people) compared to the same period last year (865,371).
The most popular tourist destinations visited were ▲Kkotji Beach ▲Resom Taean ▲Mallipo Beach ▲Anmyeondo Fish Market ▲Sinjinhang Port ▲Baeksajanghang Port ▲Anmyeondo Natural Recreation Forest ▲Mongsanpo Beach ▲Sollago CC ▲Cheollipo Arboretum.
In addition, the 'Taean Seollal Ssireum Championship' held at the Taean General Indoor Gymnasium from January 24 to 30 attracted many spectators, and the number of family travelers during the winter vacation also increased, signaling a smooth start to the operation of the '2025 Year of Visiting Taean.'
An official from the county said, "A total of about 11,000 spectators attended the Taean Seollal Ssireum Championship, and 5,370 people visited various paid tourist attractions during the Lunar New Year holiday, creating a lively atmosphere. Since Taean usually sees the lowest number of visitors in January and February, the increase in January visitors is a meaningful result."
The county has set the slogan 'The Garden of Korea, Taean' as part of its leap forward as a West Coast healing tourism city, and officially launched the '2025 Year of Visiting Taean' with a proclamation ceremony on January 14.
Additionally, the county plans to maximize visitor satisfaction by linking the Taean Marine Healing Center, scheduled to open in the second half of this year, with various tourism resources such as beaches, festivals, and sports events as part of the Year of Visiting Taean.
A Taean County official said, "Taean is a city of flowers and the sea, and as the weather warms up in spring and various events such as flower festivals are held, the number of tourists will increase even more. We will work together with residents to widely promote the charm of Taean this year by developing tourism content for all seasons and establishing customized promotional strategies for each generation and region."
