Theme: "Classical and Modern Humanities"
...Until April 8
Jeonju Lifelong Learning Center in Jeonbuk (Director: Jeon Ami) will operate the "Joyful Humanities" program from March 4 to April 8.
According to Jeonju Lifelong Learning Center on the 27th, this humanities program is designed to allow citizens to easily access humanities as if taking a stroll, and will be held every Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m.
This year's "Joyful Humanities," focusing on both classical and modern humanities, will start with lectures on the I Ching, which has long influenced the thoughts and conduct of intellectuals, and Nietzsche's philosophy. The program will be organized into a total of five seasons, including: ▲Literature and Feminism ▲Poetry and Music ▲Indian Mythology, among others.
First, the lecture on the I Ching will be delivered by Lee Hyungseong, a research professor at Chonnam National University, under the theme "The Path to Happiness through Reflection and Insight." For Nietzsche's philosophy, three lecturers?Lee Sun (Department of Philosophy, Jeonbuk National University), Nam Jaemin (Professor, Jeju National University), and Lee Sangbeom (Wonkwang University Humanities Research Institute)?will participate under the theme "Nietzsche and the Search for the Meaning of Life."
To allow more citizens to enjoy humanities, Jeonju Lifelong Learning Center has decided to expand the "Joyful Humanities" program, which was previously offered with 56 lectures on four topics, to a total of 60 lectures on five topics this year.
Additionally, for citizens who have hesitated to participate in humanities lectures due to childcare responsibilities, a children's humanities program titled "Healthy Mind and Body" will be operated at the same time for children.
Any Jeonju citizen is eligible to participate, and the tuition fee is 30,000 won (children's humanities = 5,000 won). Citizens wishing to participate can apply through the Jeonju Lifelong Learning Center website or by phone.
Jeon Ami, Director of Jeonju Lifelong Learning Center, said, "The newly launched Joyful Humanities this year aims for citizens to reflect on their lives through in-depth learning," adding, "We will work together with citizens to create Jeonju as a city of humanities that exudes the fragrance of life 365 days a year."
