On the 26th (local time), Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, became the first Korean superintendent to stand on the podium at Harvard University in the United States.
Superintendent Lim delivered a special lecture titled "Educational Reform in Korea (Gyeonggi Province): Student-Centered Education and the Role of Artificial Intelligence" in front of about 150 attendees, including Harvard graduate students, professors, and school officials.
The special lecture at Harvard was arranged upon the invitation of Professor Fernando Reimers of Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), who participated in the "2024 UNESCO International Forum on the Future of Education" held last December in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.
The lecture was officially sponsored by the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Kim Gu Forum, hosted by the Harvard University Korea Institute, which researches Korean history, literature, language, and Korea-US relations.

The lecture and the Q&A session were conducted entirely in English. Based on a manuscript he wrote himself, Superintendent Lim introduced in detail ▲the characteristics and challenges of Korean education ▲the new Gyeonggi education system ▲and reforms to the university entrance examination system for future education.
In particular, Superintendent Lim emphasized in his lecture the need to go beyond "equal education," which provides the same opportunities equally to all students, toward "fair education," which expands individualized opportunities according to students' interests and abilities. He also stressed that Gyeonggi education, in preparation for the future, aims to provide fair and diverse education "anytime, anywhere, and to anyone."
