For Forestry Workers Engaged in Forest Product Production and Silviculture

Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province announced on the 27th that it will begin accepting applications for the 'Forestry Direct Payment System' starting from the 1st of next month, aiming to stabilize the income of forestry workers and enhance the public benefits of forests.

The Forestry Direct Payment System is a program that provides direct payments to forestry workers who produce forest products such as jujube, walnut, and chestnut, or who are engaged in silviculture by planting and cultivating trees.

Eligible recipients are forestry workers who, between April 1, 2019 and September 30, 2022, worked in forest product production or silviculture for at least one year (at least 60 days per year) in forest land registered as a forestry management entity, and who meet certain qualification requirements and fulfill mandatory obligations.

The change this year is that the application period has been extended by one month, making it a total of two months. Accordingly, from March 1 to March 31, applications can be submitted online via the 'Forestry-in Integrated Portal' website, and from April 1 to April 30, applications can be submitted in person at the administrative welfare centers of the towns, townships, or districts where the forest land is located.

A city official stated, "Since the application period has been extended this year, we will actively promote the program through text message notifications and leaflet distribution to ensure that forestry workers do not miss the application period."
