Supporting AI Technology Adoption in Local Manufacturing and Growth of AI Companies
Project Applications Accepted from March 3 to 4:00 PM, March 20
Ulsan City is publicly recruiting consortium companies to participate in the "Metropolitan-Linked and Diffusion Hub-Type AI Solution Development and Demonstration Support Project" aimed at establishing an AI convergence base for local manufacturing industries.
This project is promoted as part of the "Manufacturing Industry AI Convergence Base Establishment Project," overseen by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency.
It supports the introduction of AI to local manufacturing companies and the growth of local AI development companies. Last April, the Yeongnam region (Ulsan, Busan, Daegu, Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk), including Ulsan, was selected.
The tasks being recruited this time are designated through a public call based on the Request for Proposal (RFP) discovered in last year's "AI Introduction Consulting Support Project," and are divided into two fields: metropolitan-linked and diffusion hub-type.
The metropolitan-linked type involves developing AI solutions to solve manufacturing issues in the chemical industry, demonstrating them to local demand companies, and additionally demonstrating them to key industry demand companies in other Yeongnam region areas. Two projects will be selected from three RFPs, with 735 million KRW supported per project over two years.
The diffusion hub-type involves developing and demonstrating three or more AI solutions to solve complex manufacturing issues in the chemical industry, establishing a representative AI factory for the local chemical industry. One project will be selected from two RFPs, with 1.8 billion KRW supported over two years.
Selected companies can proceed with development using the AX Lab located on the 5th floor of the Shipbuilding and Marine High-Tech Town in Duwang-dong, Nam-gu.
AX Lab is a space that supports safe data utilization and AI technology development for AI companies, providing necessary workspaces and resources such as graphic processing units (GPUs).
Applicants must be consortia composed of AI/software companies and manufacturing (demand) companies located in Ulsan.
Applications can be submitted through the Gyeongnam Technopark website from March 3 to 4:00 PM on March 20.
A city official stated, "We plan to accelerate AI-based manufacturing innovation centered on Ulsan's chemical industry," adding, "Through this project, we will actively support strengthening the competitiveness of local manufacturing companies and providing practical assistance for the growth of Ulsan AI and software companies."
The Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, which is carrying out the project, will hold a project briefing session at 2 PM on February 28 at the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency located in Duwang-dong, Nam-gu to help understand the project.
